13 Hellfire - wants Biofreak to help him out
I'll see if I can get a few of these done this week... sorry for the delay, been too busy. After hellfire's comments above, not sure if I should make him a sig :/
I realize that this might have been covered in a previous thread but when I searched for it, I couldn't find it anywhere so here it goes...
How do the more artistic types actually make these wonderful sigs and avatars?
I don't have a degree in art but consider myself to have at least some knowledge of what colour goes with what and rather than burden someone with the creation of my sig, I would like to give it a try myself...
Could anyone direct me in what steps to follow?
Sure MaTiCa.
Making a Signature (and Avatar) can be as easy or as difficult as you want it to be. As long as the images used conform to the size and content rules, you can add them to your profile.
On PCDoctors, our size constraints are 400 pixels wide by 75 pixels high for Signatures, and Avatars have a limit of 120 pixels wide by 100 pixels high.
The image itself can be in a static, non-animated file format (.JPG or .PNG) or an animated format (.GIF). There is no set Filesize limitation, but obviously smaller is better. Larger sizes will be allowed at the Moderators' discretion.
The file format to use is up to you, but generally, it's worthwhile remembering that .GIF and .PNG files support Transparency, which may allow the image to look good (or bad) when it's used on different backgrounds. .JPG images do not support Transparency, but can provide smaller filesizes at the possible cost of image quality (that said, .PNG and .GIF can be 'optimised' to provide small filesizes as well, with little or no apparent loss in image quality). I prefer the .PNG file format over .JPG.
Personally, I use Adobe Photoshop CS2 and Jasc Paint Shop Pro v7.04 to create my static and animated Sigs and Avas.
The exact process of how to manipulate images in those programs is beyond the scope of this thread (or even this website), but you can find plenty of free tutorials online, just Google for them. You can also find tutorials that are specifically directed towards creating Sigs and Avas - again, Google is your friend.
:D
Thanks hey Morgue for all the help! I be sure to try out Photoshop sometime...
Then hopefully my posts will look more interesting!
Remember that you (and StreetSweeper) can add an OGame Medal to your sig any time you want - find them in the OGame forum.
Hey everyone, i am looking for a new sig.
I do not really know what I want, but I would like the words:
Nur tote Fische schwimmen mit dem Strom.
on it somwhere.
Otherwise I cannot think of anything really, maybe a diablo/chan/internet is serious business
