I keep watching out for the massive price drop that was predicted a few years ago. :( So far nothing. I wonder which ISP is the best and who is going to have the kahuna's to drop the price's even more.
There's a lotta good deals out there but none nearly as low as those predictions you speak of that we all hoped for. It all depends what you're going for. If you want uncapped there's plenty of 384 specials for under R200 however it's slow. I like the speed part myself so I got me a 25GB cap on a 4meg line for R599 (this includes line rental) from Web Africa. It was a limited offer however.
Forgot to mention the other option, of getting something with a small international cap and about a 30GB local cap.
Like i stated above it's all about what you're looking for.
Hmm true, but I was expecting a lot more deals coming out with good uncapped solutions. Although to be fair, the likes of Seacom and Wacom haven't even been connected fully to yet to the major cities in SA.
Yeah I'm with you there Silversmith. Prices has dropped, but before we got Seacom people were saying they expect massive drops in pricing. I think we were just very starved for cheaper options, so we placed all our hope in Seacom.
Agreed, even now with the new Wacom cable as a new possibility, we wont have true international speeds until the ISP's connect the cables up to jhb without piggy backing on Telkoms cables. I think that will be the only time that we will truly start to look at the price's dropping.
What ISP's do you guys use?
I'm on Cybersmart 15gb night rider package. Super impressed with Cybersmart.
I've got the 25GB Titan II package from Web Africa. Was limited time only. I have my prepaid iburst as backup. Only because i've had it for like 6 years.
Well the place I moved to we have a fully uncapped unshapped solution through mweb. Problem is that the telkom line has been giving us troubles for the last couple months. We have had telkom in but they keep saying nothing is wrong or it is fixed.
I've only recently expirienced issues with my line and it was only for 2 days. ADSL is back up and running. This is only a 2 year contract though so I'm not sure if I'll be able to renew it as it was limited time only. So might have to just start looking at what the other ISP's have to offer as well. Will look at some and post my findings.
