  quick update on the new ICS build from Cyanogenmod , curretly beta testing the new OS on my desire , unknown if a final release will actually work on my cellphone but so far it is awesome !! heres a link to keep everyone updated on the progress so far ..

  I was running a Beta version of ICS on my HTC Desire, but it was buggy so I'm back on Gingerbread for the moment.

  This is prolly what any android user likes to hear, but when I upgrade in march I'll prolly ditch my iphone and go the android route.
  
  I cba jailbreaking everytime they release a newer ios. Also don't want to stay on the older version as the newer ones actually have features I want to use...sometimes that other phones are able to use for years already...sadly.

  So.... ICS has been released via official Vodacom and MTN channels.
  
  Go go go go go!
  
  I just upgraded this afternoon :) So far so good - the phone is much faster!
  
  One issue though: whenever I reboot the phone, I get two errors in my notifications, 1 about camera permissions, the other about Gmail permissions:
  
  
  
  
  
  When I click on them, I get: "Google Account Manager Has Stopped".
  
  
  
  Googling this shows that some others have gotten the same thing, but finding a solution is proving more difficult. Nothing seems broken... but I haven't chcked everything yet. I can access my Gmail account and the camera just fine, etc.
  
  Any tips? Is this a matter of reinstalling the Google Apps package?

  @ Morgue go into your settings > apps > gmail .. clear the cache and data , you will probbably have to log back into your gmail account but this usually solves it 99% of the time .

  Thanks for the suggestion. I tried it, and it seemed to work... for about a minute ;-) Then the two error notifications came back...
  
  HOWEVER: When I clicked on the first error message, I was now presented with a screen that asked if I wanted to give Google Goggles permission to access my email (which I thought it would already have??!). After doing that... no more errors!

  It's weird. I didn't have any issues when upgrading to ICS.
