Galaxy comes on board with a single SLI card with dual GeForce 7600GTs

Reports from CeBIT 2006 (english translation) revealed that multi-GPU video cards are gaining momentum. While most SLI configurations use two physical cards, there have been some cards have dual-GPUs integrated onto a single PCB. Gigabyte was first to release its 3D1, which integrated two GeForce 6600GT GPUs but ended up selling poorly. ASUS followed with its Extreme 7800GT, integrating two GeForce 7800GTs and even including an external power adapter.

Galaxy, a relatively unknown Asian manufacturer of PC add-in cards, demonstrated what it calls its Galaxy video accelerator. Based on dual GeForce 7600GT GPUs, the Galaxy brings forth SLI performance in a package that's easy to manage. Like the ASUS board, and Gigabyte board before it, the Galaxy packs twice the amount of memory as a regular 7600GT card. So far, however, official specifications have not been announced.

The company is no stranger to SLI and previously manufactured multi-GPU cards based on 3DFX processors prior to being absorbed by NVIDIA. The GeForce 7600GT is pin compatible with the GeForce 6600GT, so it may very well be possible that Xianka used an earlier design but anticipates capitalizing on the dual GPU craze earlier in the product cycle this time around.

Eurotech's WWPC has everything incorporated that PC users expect

Eurotech's WWPC has everything incorporated that PC users expect

What was once envisioned as a simple calculator watch has drastically changed into a modern day computer. A company called Eurotech thinks everyone will have a wrist-worn PC (WWPC) as the eventual PDA replacement, designed for the use of on call jobs where you need to communicate or find out information fast, such as healthcare and emergency rescue. A more durable model could probably be used by police and military personal.

The 7 ounce wrist PC can hold up to 1GB of any supporting cards fitting into a SD-card slot. The WWPC comes with 64MB of SDRAM and 32MB of embedded flash. It has 2 cell Li-polymer rechargeable batteries that are built into the adjustable and flexible wrist straps which have a battery life of up to six hours in "fully operational" mode, and eight hours in normal circumstances. WiFi, Bluetooth, and infrared networking are included along with USB host and device ports, built-in speakers, and a headphone jack. A very dashing 2.8 x 2.2 inch daylight-readable LCD touchscreen and a direct-access keypad with covers the top of the wrist.

Another neat feature of the WWPC is that is has a patented orientation sensor that can detect if the users arm drops it will await in stand by mode conserving more power. That is not the only sensor that is embedded in this device, but when a user becomes motionless built-in GPS receiver which will act as transmitting beacon.

Release date for PS3 part 2

Hot off the presses, folks, the PlayStation 3 won't be out until November of this year.

Hot off the presses, folks, the PlayStation 3 won't be out until November of this year. That's in Japan and North America, the first-ever worldwide launch for Sony. We've got scads of new info on the powerful new console, straight out of Sony's press conference that just ended in Japan. How about the newly announced 60GB hard drive, preloaded with Linux and possibly included in every PS3 out of the box? Then there's the Xbox Live-style online service, complete with media downloads, competitive gaming, and all that fun stuff. I don't think this delay really surprises anyone who's been paying attention in recent months--the Blu-ray format is still being hashed out, and of course they can't launch the console without finalizing its game storage medium first. At least it's nice to know where things stand, finally. Now how much is it gonna cost?
