Should your next computer monitor be a TV?

Well I got a 32" LED TV and I wouldn't mind having that as a screen for my pc. The TV option is good if you've got a compact pc or can hide your pc chassis well so that its in your living room. Else, if you do the LAN thing just stick with a cheap 22" Full HD LCD, they are still cheap, even more so if you've got contacts to buy from Rectron and such.

Personally, that R3K mark has a big psychological effect as well and that's way too much to spend on a PC monitor.

Well also as much as its about the size of the tv. Its not. You sit closer to your pc monitor so therefore you would need more pixels, in the screen the bigger it gets.

True, but what if you use your pc screen as a tv? Like you want to watch a movie or something.

Yup, I use my LCD as a TV all the time. So thanks for the link - next time I'm in the market for a screen, I'll look to TVs as well

Thing is it's not like you "upgrade" or buy a new one every couple of years like the rest of your pc. I see my screen as an investment which will last me quite a long time (provided I actually look after it). So normally I don't mind shelling out a little more for a screen when I do buy one.

Yup but the way I see it, is that if you get a proper screen it can do multiple things for you instead of just having it for 1 reason.

Definately. I'm not gonna buy one any time soon but I'll be very sure to have done my homework before I do.
